Île aux Cerfs or Île aux Bénitiers ?

Two dream islets, two moods: our comparison to help you choose your day at sea.

These are the two most popular islet excursions in Mauritius — but they're not alike. Île aux Cerfs in the east plays the beach and buzz card; Île aux Bénitiers in the west, that of dolphins and Crystal Rock. Here's how to decide.

Île aux Cerfs: beach and lagoon (East)

Ideal if you're staying in the east and love long white-sand beaches, a shallow lagoon perfect for families, water sports and a barbecue lunch. A livelier atmosphere.

Île aux Bénitiers: dolphins & Crystal Rock (West)

Ideal from the west, to combine swimming with dolphins at daybreak, snorkeling, a photo stop at Crystal Rock and a barbecue on the island. A more natural, laid-back feel.

Our advice

Choose based on the coast you're staying on to cut down on travel, and on the experience you're after: beach and relaxation → Île aux Cerfs; dolphins and scenery → Île aux Bénitiers. Got time? Do both — they're two complementary moods.

Frequently asked questions

Which one is best for families ?

Île aux Cerfs, with its calm lagoon, beaches and activities, is often preferred with young children. Île aux Bénitiers appeals more for the dolphins and the natural side.

Can you do both on the same trip ?

Yes, and it's actually a good idea: they're on opposite coasts and offer different experiences. We can arrange both days to fit your dates.
