Frequently asked questions
Where can you snorkel in Mauritius ?
The best spots reachable by boat are Blue Bay (marine park, south-east), Île aux Bénitiers (west), Îlot Gabriel (north) and Trou aux Biches. Many catamaran outings include a snorkeling stop.
Do you need to know how to swim ?
For snorkeling, being able to swim and feeling comfortable in the water is enough; a life jacket can be provided. For an intro dive, no experience is required — a qualified instructor supervises you throughout.
Can we see turtles ?
Yes, sea turtles are regularly spotted at certain spots on the west and north coasts. Nothing is guaranteed — they're wild animals — but encounters are frequent.
